Bonnie Wenk Park was established in 2000. It was founded in memory of former McKinney mayor Bonnie Wenk, who had a long-lasting commitment to the city and its local parks initiatives. This park was originally developed as an initiative to expand recreational opportunities in the area, and during its first few years of operation, it rapidly gained popularity with select groups. Today, Bonnie Wenk Park is enjoyed by all kinds of visitors, from nearby residents to those coming from outside of the McKinney area.
