Gabe Nesbitt Community Park was first established in 1982 when the City of McKinney designated 80 acres surrounding Little Elkhart Creek for public recreational use. The park was named for Gabe Nesbitt, a former mayor of the town. Although it remained a place for leisure activities and social events, the park wasn’t officially dedicated until 1998. Gabe Nesbitt Community Park is a popular recreation destination for visitors of all ages. The park features a large outdoor amphitheater, which is used for concerts, movies, festivals, and other events year-round. There are also two large lakes, two dog parks, two playgrounds, a basketball court, and a variety of trails for hikers and cyclists.
